Jindabyne (950m) is the heart of the Snowy Mountains with easy access to ski resorts on good sealed roads. There are many restaurants, a few pubs and plenty of shops to accommodate all of your snow equipment needs. During the winter snow season the town population increases from 3,000 to almost 20,000. Snowfalls vary from year to year but generally the town will get a few dustings each winter with the odd 2ft dump. Within the national park base levels average 1.5-2m. Snow chains are needed when driving into the national park. The following links may be of use when planning your holiday to the Snowy Mountains.
